Core purpose

Our innovation and programmes team are ambitious and creative. They think ahead and come up with ideas and projects that challenge us and enable us to grow. They deliver inspiring pilot projects, build on existing successes and establish partnerships with like-minded organisations which result in better outcomes for disabled people.

Day to day

From co-ordinating groups of young disabled people on work experience placements to developing new mentoring programmes for school students, the innovation and programmes teams make the most of each individual’s talents.

Impact

  • Work placements on Leonard Cheshire’s flagship employment programme, Change 100, increased by 450% last year, reaching 50 students and 25 major international companies.
  • 100% of Change100 interns told us the experience had improved their confidence, and 92% said it helped them to better understand their disability in the context of the working world.

Roles

The innovation and programmes teams offer a diverse range of opportunities. They could include managing volunteers on the Can Do programme or sourcing inclusive social care apprenticeships.
